Bulletin 4 %u00a92024 Naraena 21 September 20243continued from page 1: After lunch we had a fun dog show, Vanessa judged the puppy class, then Donna Preston judged the novelty classes: handsomest dog, prettiest bitch, best rescue and best golden oldie. Vanessa was tasked with awarding Best in Show. Apart from a good number of Norwegian Elkhounds, we had an exhibiting Buhund and a Lundehund visitor. The day ended with games classes which were really good fun, especially the fastest sausage eater when a lot of laughing and cheering pursued.Nicola Callow says thanks: A personal thank you from me to everyone who came and supported our Elkhound Fun Day, to all those who gave their time and knowledge, those that helped on the day, donated lots of money and items to the raffle and the gorgeous rosettes. Please forgive me, there are so many to mention, I%u2019m cheating by not doing so, but you will never know just how much it is appreciated. Without all of you, the day would not have happened. Every single one of you is important in its success. Thank you also to those sharing your photos on Facebook. It%u2019s fabulous to see so many happy smiley faces on both people and dogs. Keep sharing away. Much love to all of you for making the dream myself and Elaine had quite a long time ago come to fruition.Julia Kuivenhoven wrote: We had a great first Elkie fun day! When we got there, I went straight indoors where the speaker from Doghampton had already started and have to admit it was difficult to hear her over barking dogs. She basically explained the principles of the exercise and the steps leading up to the \product\We moved to outdoors where it was a bit chaotic and difficult to get good photos as the trainer was practically in the next county with her Vizsla demo dog. Again with barking dogs and the wind, it was difficult to hear her. There was a huge lineup of people willing to have a go and all were fitted with various sized harnesses which the trainer brought as that is the appropriate kit for a man trailing dog. It took quite a while to get everyone processed with varying degrees of success (or none!) but I think everyone came away with a new perspective and thoughts of something else their dog might be able to do with some practice and persistence.Footnote: Man Trailing was suggested by the late Gill Bingham because she was keen for Elkhounds to learn another discipline. The audience for the Mantrailing talk By Doghampton There is the Norwegian Buhund participant!Donna Preston wrote:\long and a definite hit they even did one for the puppies using smaller harnesses and in a different area of the ground%u201d.
